My Mystical Access Point
Having free wifi in my hotel room is amazing. I’ve got my sexy little macbook, and have high power production tools at my fingers. I’m connected exactly the same as I would be at home. No one I speak to can tell my location, based on my level of access. But my connection’s been ‘funny’.
Initially I thought it was my NIC playing up. Then I thought it’s wireless it’s probably noise/signal lose. I started checking the local pings, no problems. always <1ms. Yet ping times to the net were in the 3000’s. Baffeled.
Three nights of this, trying to pay attention, tonight it tweaked. My second hop is a satellite connection. I’m getting free wifi off a satellite connection. Who woulda thought bandwidth/technology had reached such a point where it was financially viable to offer free satellite connections to wifi users.
Raining, just enough to make a nice sounds
