I’ve picked up quite a few tips about the blogging game since I started. Below are a few that I’ve found vital so far.
Metrics. For the security readers out there this is no surprise. Metrics are important. Burn your feeds and Analyze them.
Become a better writer. Good content is worthless if it’s badly written. A Guide to Writing Well is the perfect place to learn.
Read Copyblogger, every post. This guy understand the power of headlines and explains how to write your own.
Links to other blogs, link to those who’s opinion you agree, disagree, dislike, like. Link low, link high. It’s got a horrible name; linkbaiting.
Get into the Social Network scene. StumbleUpon, MyBlogLog, Digg, technorati.
Link-Worthy Content + Solid User Experience = Great Website Seomoz have said it all for me here.
Network, find others in your niche and get talking with them. Be a team player, sport.
SEO, it’s still important.
Google Webmaster tools, see your site, The Google Way.
Wordpress Plugins. You’ll want to spruce your blog up with some plugins, this will break it out of the mould, and also allow greater functionality for you.
