Are Vista Fanboys Starwars Nerds? Leave a Comment

Over on the Security-Assessment.com Blog(Beast or Buddha), Managing Director’s Drazen Drazic has called those who

“line(d) up at a department store at midnight to be one of the first to buy an operating system(Vista)”

as the

“Same dudes who probably lined up for Star Wars movie tickets”

.

I think that’s a pretty tough brush to be tarnished with. I’m a Starwars fan, not a chance in hell I’m touching Vista.

Leave me a comment, spread the word, Stand up Starwars lovers and Vista Haters.

To kill two birds with one comment: Bill Gates LOOKS like a Star Wars nerd. Why would someone line up to buy Vista? Unless of course you want to hack the shit out of it. =)

Considering I’m not a complete and total techy, and that just today I’ve seen 2 articles detailing 2 different important problems with Vista(Not just security, we all know Microsoft products are a hair above spyware) I would have to agree. No way in hell would I be touching Vista.
As far as being a StarWars fan, not so much. I loved the 1st 3 movies..err 2nd 3 movies in the series..whatever..Episodes 1-3 I didn’t like.
I agree the comparison is wrong. It’s comparing apples to oranges. More appropriate would be comparing PlayStation or XBox freaks waiting in line for 3 weeks to people who do the same thing for Vista. Techy fanboys. StarWars is more of a entertainment or something cultural thing. Vista freaks are part of the ‘Cool, a new gadget’ culture. They are not mutually exclusive, but they are different.
Me? I’m optimistic that Vista will fail spectacularly and something like Linux will take over. I’m not a ‘Linux-Fanboy’..I got Windows…cause thas what all my videogames run on and I’m too lazy to find and/or customize a Linux-like system that allows me to play ‘Designed for Windows’ games.
Sorry, I’m still disturbed by the fact that Microsoft-Fans even exist. Is it just me, or does anyone else feel they’re losing a part of their soul when ya use Internet Explorer? Go FireFox!

I am an 81-year-old Starwars fan, and I also have no intention of getting Vista. From all I’ve heard it has mucho problems.

You’re an idiot. It wasnt referring to the exact same people– it was a comparison of a situaton. If I said, ‘He looked like harrison ford… it doesnt mean it actually WAS harrison ford or has anything to DO with the actor. I just wanted to get a picture in some ones mind of what its LIKE.

A raw nerve has certainly been touched and I acknowledge that I should have known better. My analogy maybe somewhat misguided - stats may well prove those Star Wars dudes who lined up were indeed anything but Windows…….. I probably have a few working with me at SA. :-) ….. no further comments on the stupidity of either scenario.

it is definitly full of bugs. thats why microsoft was always ahead of their competitors. Their tactic was always the same since windows 98. They release the OS full of bugs before anyone else does and then provide patches and updates. They can work on it for long time to remove all bugs but they’r scared that some competitor will provide an OS better then theirs before they do.. and lose everything.. its good for them but not for us.. i wouldnt use vista before 2009. at least in 2009 it would be stable enough to use.. i think! :S
