The Major Problem With Security, Demonstrated by Google
Security members all face a common issue/goal. Raising their profile and awareness to a business level and removing it from the realm of IT. Every meeting/seminar and workshop I’ve been to over the last year has touched on this topic. Daily I read e-mails from mailing lists about howto’s etc. I believe the message is slowly being heard.
Google posted photos of their Master Plan(inc Goog OS etc). They’ve got Hardware Engineers, Software Engineers, Richard Branson, Vince Cerf, Network Engineers, they even have a redesign of TCP/IP on there.
What don’t they have? Security!
It’s unfortunate that Security doesn’t even get a mention on the master plan. This whiteboard is obviously not 100% serious, but there are a lot of really smart/cool ideas, yet no security. If the cutting edge developers aren’t thinking about security, it’s apparent we still have a long road ahead.
