Who/When - Domain Name Registration
I got a thought whilst running the other week, that’s not far away from Dave’s Domain Name Study. I’d really love to see Dave expand upon his data (or somehow publish it in raw format, so I could do the calculation myself).
The expansion I’d like to see is how many people are registering domains, and how frequently. I believe this would show a few things.
1) Creative people don’t just have one idea, they have many ideas and projects
1b) Creative people once their juices start flowing really get going. I’d like to plot the delays between registrations between a single registrant. I believe the results, pending on the person would show steady growth, and some exponential registration
2) Businesses that expand markets/ideas usually register multiple domains for each service, usually with the same admin details (My old company had about 10-12 domains going to netadmin). I believe the results would be an interesting way to display domain registration vs company growth vs company worth/value.
3) The sad industry that is domain parking/redirection/proxying.
