Phone Feature Request
Mobile phones these days are amazing. They have 2+MP cameras, MP3 ringtone support; they can even make phone calls!
Somehow along the evolutionary path two obvious functions/features have been missed.
1) Auto delete oldest message. A full message bank is THE most annoying problem. It stops any inbound SMSes, which is a problem. Who needs warnings, saying it’s almost full, that’s great, it’s NOT full, so I’ll ignore it. What I really want is an auto delete of the oldest message. Then there never is a full inbox, it’s always full-1. If someone wants to keep a SMS, chances are they’re already copying the message at the moment they get it, not two weeks later, when they’re out of space.
2) Tagging/scheduling of events. I want to tag my friends as being able to ring 24/7, but during office hours just vibrate. I want private number to not ring of a night, I want work numbers to ring in work time, and vibrate after work, I want my SMSes to be silent, regardless who from when I sleep. Why do I need to have my WHOLE phone in a single mode? Why can’t states/profiles be built up, and attached to tags or groups or something. Then, why can’t those custom states be placed into a scheduler?
Both to me are far more basic problems then polyphonic support, or GPRS data, etc. Computer operating systems already handle both requests, why can’t the phone OS.
