Internet Picks for ‘06
Every day someone makes picks for 2006. It’s the end of 2005 and I’m going to take a crack, my first attempt. Farewell 05.
*VoIP will make much larger inroads. As the issues decrease, the uptake will rise. Companies like Avaya and Cisco will push whole solutions, with ROI in less than 18 months.
*Google will come together with a much tighter grouping of it’s products, with new launchs including calander and wallet. I think Google will lose some of the search market due to spreading itself out. Making it’s core users stronger, but loosing more of the hip users.
*Ubuntu will continue it’s Linux Domination for home users, and will be installed on a fair few ‘ma and pa’ user PC’s.
*Tagging will be REALLY big in 2006. Technorati, flickr, gmail have all showed how powerful tagging is, and it’s something I wish was implemented more.
*Web2.0 will become the next DotCom, in terms of buzz word (if it’s not already considered as such).
*Someone will create a company to allow P2P Legal video downloads.
*Gmail will hit 3gig. They will also release Gmail Appliance, for small/medium enterprise clients, which will be a fully functioning Gmail server for a host/local domain.
